Mitch grew up in the Maroochydore area of Queenslands Sunshine coast, with plenty of quality surf in the area Mitch’s first experience was riding 2 up with both his mother Leanne and father Mark, a family of keen surfers who on many occasions would travel to Indonesia for surfing holidays. During these times Mitch developed a keen sense for all things surfing and found his feet and adventure for riding short boards.
As an adventurous person Mitch entered his first competition at the Noosa Festival of surfing and used Leannes 8.1 mal and made it through to the final, with this new found confidence grew a passion for competition longboard surfing and a drive to take his sport to a new level. So fired up after the finals result Mitch went out the very next day with his father Mark and purchased his first longboard which happend to be a 9.1 mal. Not content with the new purchase Mitch and his entire family joined the Alex mal club.
Since joing the Alex club he has surfed in over 180 competions and has now found his way to a wild card entry into the Oxbow world titles held October 2009 in the Maldives Islands.
Mitch has been recognised by some of the leaders in surfing product and has great relationships and respect for his sponsors and in turn is well supported. along the way he has also appeared in Australian Longboard magazine 2007, Pacific Longboard Magazine 08 and in his first proffesional year of surfing now ranks 10th out of a field of 70 as of August 2009.
To cap of this great start Mitch became the first person to achieve a triple double crown at the Reef 2 Beach Longboard Classic Agnes Water Queensland, these results were consecutive for open 9ft mens and juniours.
